[ AKITA vol.2 – Japanese prefecture introduction – No.5 ]

On Wednesday, I introduce several specially products, famous places and more.

1) “Kakunodate”
Kakunodate in Senboku city is known as famous tourist spot. There was the old Samurai residences.
Also Kakunodate is famous for weeping Sakura, so you can enjoy the beautiful weeping Sakura and old Samurai residences. Of course it is beautiful for colored leaves in autumn and for snow in winter.
You may be able to take beautiful photos in Kakunodate.

2) “Namahage”
Namahage is the event at New Year eve in Oga city since ancient times. Men from each village wares mask and costume made of straw, it looks like ogre. And they visit some houses for good health and good harvests, and admonishing laziness.
In front of the Oga Tourist Information Office, there are 2 Namahage statues. It is about 15 meters high. You should take the picture about it!

3) “AKITA Dog”
Akita Dog is a large-scale Japanese dog from AKITA prefecture. It is famous for model of “Statue of Hachiko” near the Shibuya station, where it is known as meeting location.
Akita Dog is designated National Treasure in Japan.
Akita Dog’s personality is faithful for owner, so some owner keep them for watchdog.
