“Tomioka Silk Mill” is a government factory built at Tomioka city in Gunma prefecture in the Meiji era. After registration of the World Cultural Heritage in 2014, a lot of people visit it every day.
Entering “Tomioka Silk Mill”, you will be attracted by the building of red-brick, which makes you feel exotic. Then you can see history and achievement of silk industry. For example, actually used reeling machines, cocoons which is the basis of silk, how to make silk from raw silk, and so on.
You can also see residence and infirmary, which were used by women workers at the silk mill.
These valuable buildings will make you feel how they lived at the time.

It will be closed during the end of the year. (from December 29 to December 31)
Some other extra holiday will be occurred due to maintenance.
