[Today’s “Sakura” spot-9 “Goryokaku” @ Hakodate / Hokkaido]

Approximately 1,600 "Somei-yoshino" (cherry trees) are planted in the star-shaped moat

Today’s famous “Sakura” spot is “Goryokaku”@ Hakodate in Hokkaido.

“Goryokaku” is the symbol tower of Hakodate.
It is rare star-shaped western castle, and length of a side is about 300meter.
Now, it is opened free as the park.
Approximately 1,600 “Somei-yoshino” (cherry trees) are planted in the star-shaped moat.

From the adjacent “Goryokaku” tower, you see the star shape is to be clear.

At the cherry blossom season, you can see “Cherry blossom – colored stars” from the observatory. This “Star” will can watch this only on about 10 days from one week in one year. It is a very rare landscape.

Here is a suitable place for the end of Japanese cherry blossom season.

Streetcar: 15 minute walk from the “Goryokaku koen mae” bus stop.

From the adjacent "Goryokaku" tower, you see the star shape is to be clear.  It is opened free now as a park.
