Nagata Shrine

“Sansya-mairi” is a deep-rooted custom in Western Japan. People visit three Shinto Shrines for a new year’s first event.

Kobe “Sansya-mairi” is composed of Nagata Shrine, Ikuta Shrine and Minatogawa Shrine. These shrines are located in Kobe city, and you can talk a nice work worshipping all of them if you have plenty of time. Today, I introduce Nagata Shrine as a beginning.

Nagata Shrine is a historically old shrine constructed in 201, more than 1,800 years ago.
As you can see in the picture-3, it was called in other way as “Hachimangu” in Edo period.

Although the great Hanshin earthquake had damaged Nagata shrine, the main shrine did not fall down fortunately. And today it is completely recovered.

The God is “Kotoshironushi”, known as a God of ocean, a god of fishing and a god of business.
Every first day of month, many people worship here, praying for success in business, because it is famous for “otsuitachimairi”.
