June 2023 : “TSUYU” (The Rainy Season) Box

By the time this “Tsuyu” (The Rainy season) BOX arrives at your hand, Japan will be in the “Tsuyu”, and the “Ajisai” (hydrangea) flower will have bloomed all over Japan.

It is not much good on a “Tsuyu” day. Laundry is also hard to dry, isn’t it?
However, the “Ajisai” (hydrangea) that blooms in this season is beautiful and can be seen in many gardens. In addition to “Ajisai”, there are many flowers that bloom during the “Tsuyu”, and these flowers entertain us in the rain.
For example, “Kuchinashi” (Gardenia) is characterized by white petals and a sweet scent. “Suirenn” (Water lily) is known as Monet’s favorite flower. “Yuri” (lily) blooms fragrant flowers, and so on. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels the strong smell of flowers when it rains.

Well, in Japan, there is an amulet called “Teruteru bozu” that brings good weather.
It is a simple amulet made of white paper or cloth. Children make this “Teruteru bozu” when they have an outdoor event and pray for the weather to improve.
