Today’s Japanese food is “Omurice”.
“Omurice” consists of an omelette made with fried rice and usually topped with ketchup. The word of “Omurice” is made of omelette and rice.
Generally, “Omurice” consists of chicken rice wrapped in a thin sheet of fried egg. Chicken rice is rice pan-fried with ketchup and chicken.
Omelette was coming to Japan about 1890’s.
In 1920’s, a western cook in Tokyo mixed rice and omelette. It is a “Omurice”.
How to make “Omurice”.
1) A loaf of chicken, onion, carrot, green pepper and mushroom is chopped to small pieces.
2) A bowl of rice, chicken, vegetables and mushroom is fried. It is seasoned with soup stock cube and ketchup.
3) In a heated pan, the butter and beaten egg are put, and make a omelette.
4) A omelette have almost been made, and pour rice 2). So rice is covered with omelette. It is ready to eat.
It put on demiglace and tomato ketchup. It tastes good.
