When you take a bus from the central part of Kyoto to the northern part, you will realize that the number of houses gradually decreases and the scenery changes to that of “Satoyama” with a lot of nature. The place you will reach after one-hour bus trip is Ohara in the “Rakuhoku” area in Kyoto.
In Ohara, you will feel a peaceful atmosphere, and that time passes very slowly unlike in the central part of Kyoto where there are so many tourists. After ten-minute walk from “Ohara” bus stop, you will arrive at Sanzen-in Temple which is a temple of Tendai sect.
You can enjoy very quiet and relaxed atmosphere in the temple that you cannot experience in the central part of the city.
Please see the inside of the temple carefully because you are not allowed to take pictures of the inside. So you cannot look back the inside with pictures later.
You can join the Sutras experience in Sanzen-in Temple. It is also a nice idea that you will feel this relaxed atmosphere with your Sutras experience.
What is special about Sanzen-in Temple is their beautiful gardens. The gardens have different landscapes for all four seasons. You will enjoy the different face of the gardens how many times you visit there. During your stay in Kyoto, why don’t you visiting Ohara where you can completely forget the noise of the city?
