The Sapporo Snow Festival is one of Japan’s largest winter events. It attracts about two million people from Japan and abroad every year.
During the festival, Sapporo is turned into a winter dreamland of crystal-like ice and white snow.
There are 3 sites in this festival, “Odori site”, “Tsudome site” and “Susukino site”.
1) Odori site
Feb. 6th (Mon.) – Feb. 12th (Sun.)
Enjoy the art of snow and ice created by the citizens of Sapporo together with the Ground Self-Defense Force! Illumination is turned off at 10:00pm.
2) Tsudome site
Feb. 1st (Wed.) – Feb. 12th (Sun.)
OPEN: 9:00am – 5:00pm.
This site includes snow slides and a snow rafting area where you can have a snow-ice experience.
3) Susukino site
Feb. 6th (Mon.) – Feb. 12th (Sun.)
Under the theme of “Enjoy the Ice”, this site offers a fantastic ice sculpture show and the ice sculpture contest. Illumination is turned off at 11:00pm, but on the last day is at 10:00pm.
“Sapporo Snow Festival” is a very famous snow festival in Japan.
