Tokyo has a wide selection for you when it comes to park. But the largest park is won by Yoyogi. Stretching on an area of 54.1 hectares, it was officially created in 1967, having quite some history. Yoyogi features wide lawns, ponds and forested ginko area. Jogging, picnicking or outdoor activities are welcomed here.
Today, “Yoyogi Park” is divided into 2 parts, separated by a road. One part is the forest park area, and another, which is a longer walk away, has an outdoor stage and stadium. You will be surprised when you visit Yoyogi, a perfect blend-in of nature in a middle of modern-crowded Tokyo. Ginko forest, a pond with some fountains, a bird sanctuary, a sample garden:rose, cherry, and plum.
And Yoyogi is not all about nature. It is the perfect hang-out spot with friends and family. Some of Yoyogi Park’s cultural events held in recent years are
St. Patrick’s Day in March
Songkran Festival and Cambodian Festival in April
Cinco de Mayo, Okinawan Festival, and One Love Jamaica Festival in May
an ASEAN Festival in June
a Brazilian Day and Indonesian Festival in July
a Latin American/Caribbean Festival in August
Vietnam, Indian, and Sri Lankan festivals in September,
…Visitors or local, can all get excited and enjoy the huge fun that Yoyogi Park could offer. So friend, see you there!
