[Itsukushima Island (Miyajima) / Hiroshima ]

“Itsukushima” Island is located in the Hiroshima Prefecture.

It is popularly known as “Miyajima”. It is one of the top three scenic spots in Japan.
“Miyajima” means the Shrine Island. So, if you visit the “Itsukushima”, the torii of the Itsukushima Shrine welcomes visitors to the island.

Itsukushima is famous for the Itsukushima Shrine. The Itsukushima Shrine was designated a World Heritage site.
In “Itsukushima”, there are a number of temples, including Toyokuni Shrine with a five-storied pagoda, and Daiganji Temple (it is one of the three most famous Benzaiten temples of Japan).

In autumn, the maple leaf is very beautiful. So it is copied to “Momiji-manjyu”, which is shaped like maple.
And the souvenir in “Itsukushima” is “shamoji” (rice scoop). In the street, the big “shamoji” is displayed. It’s length is 7.7 meter.

Frequent ferry services operate between the island and the mainland (“Miyajima guchi”). It takes about ten minutes.
You get off the ferry, you look a lot of deer. They are moving freely inside the island! Because the feces of the deer fall in the open space, let’s be careful!!

You get on the ferry from “Miyajima Guchi”.

At first, you go to “Miyajima Guchi” from Hiroshima City.
1) By JR “Sanyo” line (To Iwakuni), it takes 27 minutes (410 yen).
There are few train services.
2) By Hiroshima Electric Railway, it takes 69 minutes from Hiroshima Station (260 yen) or 52 minutes from the A-Bomb Dome (260 yen).

Second, you get on the ferry from “Miyajima Guchi” to Miyajima. It takes 10 minutes. The fee is 180 yen for adults, 90yen for children.
